For over two decades, William Castner has approached photography as a "generalist". "I like to look for new ways of seeing a diverse number of subjects," he says. "Everywhere I look, there's a picture. And every picture has a feeling that I want to share."
Castner's photographic style ranges from the abstract to the conventional. Filming in vivid color, strong black-and-white tonalities, and the nuance of infrared, Castner applies his skill to stunning landscapes ... elegant flowers including his new series on wildflowers ... dynamic architecture ... a new series on inspiring models of fitness ... and an absorbing assortment of animals + birds and butterflies. All with the distinctive intimate perspective that has become the hallmark of his visual voice.
"Detail is important to my work," he says. "I want the aspects of shadow and light, color and graphics ... all the subtleties I see through my lens to be present even when my print is as large as a 24x56 panorama or a 40x60 standard."
His art has been on exhibit in several regional galleries including the prestigious Royce Galleries, Ltd. in Denver, Colorado where he is a permanent artist, Artisimo Gallery in Glendale, Arizona, and Gallery East in Loveland, Colorado. In addition, several of his images are on file at the New York Museum of Modern Art and many hang in private collections.
For the last several years, Castner has focused on providing his work to art consultants, interior designers, design firms and in-house designers nationwide. Archival giclée prints of his work hang in various Marriott and Comfort Suites as well as in hospitals and corporate offices around the country. And he is registered as a Preferred Vendor to the Marriott Corporation, Starwood Hotels & Resorts, and Sage Hospitality Resources.
